But before they had even removed their gloves, they were mauled to death by the host’s four guard dogs. A trial was held to decide who was to blame. The host! said the prosecution. The couple! said the defense. The dogs! said the expert witness. The judge stood to deliver his judgement. It was love, he said, his eyes misting over. The courtroom erupted. Where was the justice? That same night, lovers everywhere set out to overturn the verdict, again and again and again.
