This Dog Wore a Camera That Took Photos When Its Heart Raced With Excitement

Photograph of a patch of blue sky framed by a fence and trees. The idea was to capture candid canid joys and fears. Unleashed, he photographed about what you’d expect: smug cats behind glass, uneaten kibble, all his doggy neighbors flop-tongued in fisheye close-up. Geese, smashed eggs, a fresh-laid turd. But these, too, are obvious mongrel thrills, unspecific to the individual. Everything else that dog’s heart shot is a poem about itself. A garden hose. A turquoise stack of canned Heinz Baked Beans. A patch of open sky, so wide and inviting that, given wings, he might run until takeoff, his own thudding heart clutched in his jaws like a favorite chew toy.
