Therapy

Silhouette image of a girl moving behind glass. She always knew there was a mean girl inside of her. But apparently, inside of her, there’s a girl who’s afraid to open her piehole. And inside of her is a fat girl who’s just starting to notice how adults are always whispering, clucking their tongues, though for a little longer she’ll believe they’re talking about someone else. And inside of her is a sad girl drawing pictures of a happy girl who still lives with her mommy and daddy, standing in front of a rectangle house with square windows, and up in the sky is a big yellow sun.

Dawn Tasaka Steffler writes very short stories in San Jose and when she was little she had a traditional matryoshka doll, but didn’t everyone have a matryoshka doll?
